I just found a biography for Fred Lightfoot in Stereo World 19/6 
(Jan/Feb 1993), p. 17, written by Russell Norton.  Fred appears to
have been a big stereo view collector with his collection has
formed the basis for the collection at the International Museum 
of Photography at the George Eastman House in Rochester NY.  
No mention that he ever used a Realist :-)

The American Branch of the Stereoscopic Society is now known as
the Stereoscopic Society of America (SSA).  It operates through
NSA and has a number of folios (exchange of stereo views) in
operation, both prints and slides.
