The reason behind .jps is to provide a compatible format to describe how
the jpeg image is organized so that the image can be convberted on the
fly by the viewer program to the format appropriate to the viewing
mechanism.
There are no standards otherwise, although a knowledgeable person can
deduce the organization and manipulate the image into a viewable
format. Doable, but hardly friendly.
