cleaning solvent

Word of caution:
I usually use ethanol for a cleaning solvent because it doesn't
seem to damage any materials and it's safe. Also, I believe in
getting into my work, and if things get frustrating, one can
always have a little snort. I've now found something that gets
damaged (very slightly). I recently bought a nice Baldafix medium
format folder and I find the leather or "leatherette" gives up its
black dye when you clean it with ethanol. I really should have
tested the ethanol in a little corner first but I've never ever
had a problem before and certainly didn't expect one now. 8-(
