Thank you George for your feedback about artistic expression.
When I decided to place a copy of my letter to APEC members also on the
photo-3d list, I knew that I am taking a chance, as it was out of
context in regards to previous correspondence on the topic with APEC
members, and as such it might need further clarification. Here is an
attempt at that:
When APEC was formed, the rules stated clearly that it will accept two
formats: Holmes and View-Magic. I knew my options and have not submitted
anything that could not be viewed with a side-by-side View-Magic viewer,
with maximum size of 2 prints not exceed 4" X 6" each.
It turns out that some other members who joined the club, did not take
into account the 2 options and after the second submission they felt
disappointed when 30% of the cards where not in the Holmes format, but in
the other format that was allowed from the beginning.
So I don't think that the issue is whether or not "Shab is looking for a
stereo image exchange group that
puts (almost) no restriction to the formats entered/accepted?" - but how
to participate in a group that agreed to one set of rules and in which
some members want to change these now.
Let me add here that I believe in finding practical solutions rather than
saying to someone: "if you don't like the rules of the game, don't play"
which was one of the undesired options I listed in my open letter.
I appreciate and enjoy looking at all the entries, even those that have
glaring mistakes, and I hope other people feel the same about my images.
I am doing this for fun and I like to learn from my mistakes if pointed
out, as well as from others' work, both good and not so good.
Thanks again for your comments. Perhaps this topic is not of much
interest to many on this list, but since APEC doesn't have its own
discussion list, I find it helpful to post APEC comments here.
Finally, I am sorry that you lost part of your images from your trip,
yet, I suspect that you have probably more images left even without
these, than most tourists that visited the sites you did!
