Well, you could always go looking for the "one-armed man". :-)  The Palmer
House is one of those grand old hotels, with gilt ceilings two stories
high in the lobby, real heavy wood paneling in the corridors, etc.  It
was used as a location in the film version of "The Fugative", which I
happened to see for the first time on the plane back from Chicago after
just having stayed there.  It's very photogenic.
