Barbie & Matchbox VMs

There are several Barbie packets that were made over the years.
"Barbie's Around the World Trip", "Barbie's Great American Photo Race",
"Barbie - Superstar" and "Barbie and the Rockers". The scariest of
these is "Great American Photo Race".  All are deemed very collectible
both by VM collectors and Barbie fans alike.  There was also a special
advertising/promo reel for Barbie fashions that is very expensive and
very desirable.  Most of these sell in the $25 and up range.

Scuttlebut is that VM will be making at least one new Barbie View-Master
tie-in (attribute this to the recental Mattel/View-Master merger).  And
we have already suggested a VM Barbie with her using a mini VM viewer.
That way Barbie and her real life friends can travel the world together.
(Yes, VM intends to continue to making scenic reels and may even decide
to expand the existing line).

About Matchbox vans and reels...there was a special joint promotion done
last year by the Matchbox collectors club that included a special VM
reel.  I'm surprised that any of the red vans are still left (in the
special wooden box) as this was a limited edition item with 150 being
made--total.  Of course, 1,000 of the reels were made (standard custom
run by VM).  

There may be more tie-in's with Mattel products depending on what the
future brings.  I think Barbie is already in the works and has the
biggest potential audience.  Depending on how well it goes over, I see
more reels depicting Hot Wheels, Matchbox cars, Fisher-Price toys, etc.
