The person who mentioned the "Asian Effect" was referring to regular
Realist format viewers and not SIRDS. My comments regarding smaller
interpupillary distance and difficutly in seeing stere were made
for using these viewers.

Or it is never achieved.

1 or 2 degrees is a very small angle and no matter how careful a person
is, such deviation is very possible. I just tried and was able to
view SIRDS at 45 degrees angle. I don't see why this is painful or
impossible.
