When i was 15 and applying my drivers permit, i remember not wearing
my glasses/contacts (i didn't have to drive, just pass a written exam).
Before the exam they gave me an eye test and part of it involved looking
through a device which displayed objects at varying depths and i was
supposed to say which object were closer/farther.

Anyway i failed... probably because i didn't have my contacts in. If
i remember correctly, at that point one eye was stronger than the other.
I don't know if it was enough to make a difference in my depth perception
but the end result was that i had to retake the eye exam (with contact
lenses this time). I passed.

This was in Vermont. I don't know if they still require this test or
if other states do.
