John B.,

While I wish my German were more useful than a bunch of words which I
cannot repeat on this forum, I can offer the following comment about the
connection between a specific moire pattern and stereoscopic images. When
the moire is created by using two opaque but perforated screens with
approximately 50% light transmission, and where one of the screens allows a
little more (or less) light than the other, one may see in front of the
screens an enlarged and floating in space image as the image of the screen
elements. For example, if you place a screen with round holes of say 10mm
on top of another with holes of 9mm, you may be able to see two large
circles floating in front of the two screens, if light is shining on these
from behind. I have done the experiment as part of a kinetic art work and
it is fascinating to see the effect!

Good luck with the translation.
