There's also a visual effect by this name, based on the same principle.
Too small to notice in everyday life. Because in most people the pupil is
not centered on the lens of the eye, you can get different wavelengths
being diffracted by different amounts, typically in opposite directions in
the two eyes, with the result that different colors can appear separated in
depth. The 3-DVG device that pops up on the list every now & then
exaggerates this effect (among other things).
