There's a long editorial on stereoscopic 3D in the computer and 
entertainment industry, in the August 1997 issue of Information Display,
by Aris Silzars (starting on page 4). The editorial discusses what
goes into realistic reproduction of reality, and the challenges in
reproducing this effect.
