Stereo club in Arizona

Michael asks if there is a stereo club in Arizona. Here is an abstract
from a letter sent to me by Dr. Bernard Stell (I am posting here because it
is interesting to see not only the successes, but failures of stereo
clubs):
"Dear Mr. Themelis:
Thank you for sending me the first issue of STEREOGRAM in which you
announced the formation of a stereo club in Cleveland, your home area. I
am pleased that you had su a large and enthusiastic audience. It all
reminds me of my efforts to start a stereo club in Arizona. At that time
the closest club was in Hollywood CA, about 6 hours drive on the
expressways. We selected Sun City even though the Phoenix metropolitan
area was just 14 miles away. There was only one active stereographer in
Phoenix, but in Sun City, we had seven. At our first meeting we had 18
people, some as far away as Tucson, some 140 miles south from Sun City.
Arizona is a huge state, many times larger than some of the states in the
east or even the central part of USA.
The stereographers in Sun City, although active, were not interested in
presenting any programs or in judging. Thus, most if not all work had to
be done by me or Fred Wiggins. Fred died three years after we got started;
no one wanted to take over his duties. I got tired of being all officers
and program chairman, so we disbanded. You may be more fortunate, you have
a much larger group and your members are younger; we had retired people who
were "lookers" and not "doers"."
So, Michael, you sound like a young man... perhaps you should start
(restart) the club now. I can give you Dr. Stell's address in Sun City if
interested.
Regards, George Themelis
