Considering that I and many others mount slides w/o glass at all
for use in a projector, I hope "for a while".
If you're using Fuji's chromes projection can probably be longer than
with Kodachrome just due to longevity-under-projection reasons (Kodachrome
will last longer when not projected).
It also may vary with projectors. Get an image you hate and leave it in
your projector for as long as you have patience for and see what happens.
Dalia sells (still?) a Dukes design previewer. It allows you to project
your slide film still uncut!

P.S. - This is one of the advantages of RBT mounts. If after mounting
you try it in projection and don't like it for some reason, you
can reopen the mount w/o damage (once you get the hang of it) and
fix it.
