Flat projection - a painful experience

While on the subject of stereo projection, here is an interesting
experience:

In the PSA convention in St. Charles, after 2 days of stereo projection
I went to attend a 2-d slide show by Frans Lanting, famous National
Geographic photographer, "Okavango, Africa's Last Eden".

Boy, was that painful!

Luck of depth was nearly impossible for me to tolerate. In some
instances I thought I was seeing depth. He needed a wider base, I
was thinking. Maybe if he just mounts his pairs a bit behind the
window?

I was hallucinating of course. Those image were as flat as a 2-d pancake
and my system was not reacting well to them. Why can't everybody shoot
stereo? :-)
