  Some people on rec.photo.film&labs suggest that the
film is too green until near its expiry date. One
fellow discussed storing the film ON TOP of the fridge
to age it more rapidly.  A dejanews search may turn
up the details of what he said.

  I usually shoot Kodachrome 25 in my Realist and
find it to be fine when bought fresh.
