Hi All,

Last night, an SRO crowd, about 90 people, jammed the American Museum of
Natural History's Blum lecture hall for the New York Stereoscopic Society
inaugural meeting. Photo 3D was well represented by Ray Dobbins, Mike Zohn,
Josh Rubin, Bob Stern, and many others. Some people actually found out
about us from the Museum newsletter. There were even some walk-ins from the
museum, too. (after all, we had a choice location at the end of the
exciting hall of molluscs!)

David Hutchison (wearing his very sharp Stereo Realist shirt) presented his
survey of 3D and showcased his own work with lots of insight and good
humour, and was very well recieved. The addition of some slides from Mars
Pathfinder inspired many oohs and aahs. Earlier, a David Hutchison fan came
out of the woodwork to have his copy of "Amazing 3D" signed!

We took a break as Greg Dinkins took on the role of benevolent dictator and
presented his ideas about what the NYSS would be like. A short survey
handed our will give us a better idea.

I then presented a short history of Highway, USA, which Greg projected
masterfully. It was a treat to see this show again, and the audience seemed
to love it, too.

In general, the response was very positive, and we hope that we can keep it
up for meeting #2 in January. People were grateful to see so many
stereofolk coming together. Thanks to everyone who attended, and a very
special congratulations to Greg Dinkins who made the magic happen...
