WTD Realist help

Ahh back to work after a wonderful weekend in Malvern at the British 
Stereoscopic Society Conference... boy I'm tired, anyway it was great to meet 
people and put faces to names like Jeremy Hinton, Alexander Klien, Ian 
Walker , and Bob Aldridge (but I already know your face of course :))

While there I decided to buy a Realist camera..spur of the moment decision that 
took me all day to make ! (.I used to be indecisive but now I'n not so sure). 
The decision was between a Realist and a Kodak, so Dr.T was obviously permeated 
my sub consus far more than I realised :)

I ran a film through it on Sunday and am awaiting them back from the 
processors but one thing that is apparent is that the apature rings are VERY 
STIFF. Looking through the lenses I can see scuff marks on the blades of the 
apature iris' Is this a common problem ? is it a simple thing to fix ?

Also are there are any tips for "cleaning" up a Realist.. would a metal polish 
be a good or bad idea. Are there any ways to remove/reduce the pitting on the 
front metal lense board ?
