The price of worm (write once, read many) CD-R blanks has come down to
the point where a standard 650MB blank of good quality can per purchased
retail for about $6 with a label & jewel case. It's hardly worth it to
get special readers for the non-standard re-writables when the object is
the publication of identical data.

In addition, the multi-session format allows files to be added if the
disk was not filled in the first write. In fact, files in sessions
after the first with the same name replace the original file giving the
author the ability to "update" the write-once CD's. By default, PCs
will return the most recent version, but special programs allow access
to the complete revision history of a file.
