Greg makes many good points. I would just add this comment.
Photographers used to the "conveniences" of modern SLRs may
voice some gripes about the lack of automated features in
50s stereo cameras. IMO, however, there is scarcely a better
value in the photo equipment marketplace today than a camera
such as the Realist for under $150. You are getting a lot of
quality for the money. I now wonder why I have so much money
tied up in my SLR equipment. It goes virtually unused on my
photo outings now, and with two zooms and a *wide* angle it's a
load to carry around. All that modern stuff is about to be squeezed
out of my camera bag to make room for my growing assortment of
stereo cameras and the two old TLRs I recently started using for
medium format stereo.
Long live the Realist and its cousins!
