"Stereo Photography: Places and Times Remembered"
VHS videotape (non-stereo). History of stereo photography
from 1850 to 1940. Awarded "Arts/Culture Medal
Winner, International Film and Television Festival of NY"
In this 40 minute video, the history of three-dimensional
photography (1850-1940) is told through the reminiscence
of Philip Brigandi, one of the top stereo photographers
for the Keystone View Company. At the end of the era of
stereo photography, Brigandi is assigned the task of throwing
out half of the prints in Keystone's files...the remaining images will
be stored away in concrete vaults. Brigandi laments: "I thought I
was hired to take pictures, not destroy them. But then again,
stereo photography's not what it used to be..."
Over 150 images from this collection are used in the video to
illustrate the story of stereo photography. Though the stereo
process is fully explained, the 3-D effect is not simulated in the
video. The purpose of the video is to enhance the understanding and
appreciation of the photographs, as they are placed in historical and
sociological context.
List price $19.95, plus $4.00 shipping and handling. 8.25%
Sales tax for California residents only.
Thanks for the time,
Lawrence Kaufman
