Kodak Reshuffling Consumer Imaging Business
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Reuters) - Film and photo equipment maker Eastman Kodak
Co., plagued by the strong dollar and competition from rival Fuji Film
Co., said Thursday it was reshuffling its consumer imaging business
management.
The unit's president, David Biehn, 54, will retire early next year and
will be succeeded by Robert Keegan, 50, currently president of the Kodak
Professional unit, the company said.
The consumer imaging office of the president will be shared by Keegan
and the unit's chief operating officer, Henri Petit. The appointments
are effective October 13.
Kodak last week said it would cut 200 senior and mid-level management
jobs, or 20 percent of its managerial workforce, in the next few weeks.
In the reshuffle announced today, Patrick Siewert, also chief operating
officer of Kodak's consumer imaging business, will replace Keegan as
head of the professional photo unit. Siewert will share the Kodak
Professional office of the president with Susan McLaughlin, who will
remain the unit's chief operating officer.
"Up to today, we had two chief operating officers in consumer imaging;
now we're going to one," a Kodak spokesman said.
The management changes come as Kodak has seen its U.S. market share of
film rolls drop to 70 percent from 75 percent last year. At the same
time, its international profits have tanked in the wake of a
strengthening U.S. dollar.
