computer oriented technical artistic presentations (commercially
marketed) lack artistic merit and are obviously written by persons who
are engineers first and hardly even pretend to be artistic."

I have been saying this for quite sometime. Being a self employed
graphic designer/illustrator for many years (yes, even when an apple was
just a fruit and no one had ever heard of Bill Gates or Microsloth), I
have seen the lack of quality design and lamented with other designers.
Designers are mostly hired for their computer skills and rarely (there
are of course exceptions) for their artistic skills anymore. I have
lost my share of work to those degreed in computer science simply
because they were obviously more computer literate. I have also won
work for my artistic ability.

"I've often felt that the engineers would get better marketing mileage
from their technical creations if they would bring the artists *IN* to
use the hi-tech gear instead of *locking them out* deliberately. "

YES!!! Why not let us all do what we all do best. I learn from
"engineers" and am always greatful when one shares knowledge and gets me
out of a "technical" or computer jam. And, it seems to me that techs
enjoy the technical aspects of what they do. Lets see if corporate
america ever realizes this anytime soon.

Bringing this back to 3D-I think there is a place for everyone. Artists
wouldnt have the means if it wasnt for the camara makers or techs if you
will. Those pushing the envelope bring with it new technical
challanges.
I also think there are a very few who fall in between. The Renaissance
types. Was DaVinci considered more of an artist or more of a scientist?

How could 3D have happened had it not been for a techie?
