Re: Stereo's Future

Sorry, it somehow didn't click in my brain that you were
suggesting that the Holmes format would re-enter as a popular
format. I thought it was suggested that it already was.
It's a bit off of thread, but was the Holmes format ever "popular"
(vs other contemporary formats) for amateurs, or were most cranked
out by Keystone (etc)?

In terms of Gate's "vision" that the PC will be integrated with
the (HD)TV as an appliance, I agree. For moving of what currently
is a PC, possibly not. Current TV's can and have been used as
a computer screen for years, but, really, it's a crummy one. :-(
They'll be even worse if one wants to interlaced 3D with a 30-Hz
refresh rate per image.

I did. It was easy. :-) :-)
It'll also take longer than everybody just getting to want
it. The communications infrastructure has to keep up, else
you have what's called the "World Wide Wait" system. Not
that I mind infrastructure purchases en masse, the internet is
partially built with stuff I designed. :-) :-)

Yes, that's what I think too. Eventually. :-)
Some of the things that various companies are trying to do to become
"the" data distribution system are "interesting" and for technical
reasons I won't go into, "challanging" for them to succeed -- but
the stakes are high and they *have* to play the game. It's quite
exciting. :-)

How does that part work? Wallet computer screen? Dick tracy
watch with holographic projection? I can't wait! :-) :-)
People are *not* going to give up showing off pictures of their
kids to anyone they can pin down for a minute or two! :-)
