No, that wasn't my intent but now that you mention it, why not?
It offers the best of both worlds. That is, it leaves a person,
the option of looking at it in 2D or 3D, albeit with a viewer.

I think there were numerous companies cranking that stuff out.
I don't know about the amateurs but I would gather at its
height of popularity, it was more a passive device, very much
like television (was).

On a side note (since we're going into the past with Mr.Holmes)
In the thread Techs vs. Artists, Brenda writes, how could 3D
have happened had it not been for a techie? This is interesting
since the Wheatstone viewer was "invented" by the same person
who invented the Wheatstone Bridge, an electronic device used
in electronics for measurments of unknown devices. The
interesting thing about this is, the similarities between
his two (among many) inventions. The viewer consists of viewing
stereo pairs and the bridge consists of a two pairs of devices
used to find the component of one of the pairs.

Well, you should have capitalized on it and been Gate's eyes. He
sure missed the boat on that one. You both could have been rich! ;-)
Yes I know he is, but the key word is both. ;;;-)

No, not really, it's happening as we speak. First, hard cash is
being phased out, so the major function of a wallet is slowly
being outdated. Since we haven't reached Dick Tracy watches
"yet", I just put my KID PICS (tm) ;-) on the web (in 2D and 3D)
and get those unsuspecting souls to see them there. Heck I don't
have to carry the pictures and any handy computer anywhere in
the world can serve its function of a gateway to my kids
pictures! The beauty of this is that, people find it interesting
to view them this way compared to the "old fashion" and boring
method. Of course once the novelty wares off, hopefully holographic
projection will be perfected. :-) And if I really want to bore
them I can print them a color full blown print! Can you do that
with your wallet??? ;-)

>People are *not* going to give up showing off pictures of their

True, and I think I got my bases coverd as explained above! :-)
