"Kodachrome was invented by two musicians."

Brenda Nowlan wrote: "WHAT? Who were they?"

They were Leopold Mannes and Leopold Godowsky. I think they did their
work in the 1920s at home. They timed the process by playing short
sections of classical music, probably Chopin.

The Kodachrome process relies on dyeing processed black and white film.
The film consists of at least 3 layers -- each sensitive to a different
region of the visible spectrum. Diffusion of each dye to the appropirate
layer is time critical.

See http://www.kodak.com/ppiHome/technicalPubs/ePubs/e55/f002_0489ac.gif
for an interesting graph of modulation transfer for Kodachrome 64. Does
the Realist 3.5 lens rated at 80 lines/mm exceed the resolving power of
the film?
