amateur-made Holmes-format stereoscopic print. ...>>
I have seen amateur stereoscopic prints. Usually a little taller than
published Holmes views, these are mounted on orange-red or other colorful,
flat card stock. There were some rather well-made ones which I spotted back
in the spring; would have bought them except they were outside the scope of
my main collecting interest. I do have one amateur view in my collection: a
view (snapshot?) of the inside of a Lutheran Church, filled with flowers.
It's amateur in photography AND mounting.
On second thought, I'm not sure. Sometimes a poor professional photographer
shows up who is much worse than the average amateur. And as this list has
certainly taught us, "professional" or "amateur" is no indication of quality.
Since Vincent van Gogh sold few paintings; would anyone label him "amateur"?
