There are many copyrighted operating systems, and I am not suggesting you don't
use one. Industry considers that when using an operating system that requires
hardware from the same source to run, you are taking a very high risk and one
easily avoided in many cases. That is a big reason why the majority of DEC
hardware runs Unix instead of DEC's own VMS.

Apple deals with less experienced users (perhaps), but those users are showing
concern about Apple's recent decision to refuse license renewals to clone
makers. Had they continued to support clone makers, they may have gotten me to
buy an Apple!

BTW, Unix, OS/2 and Linux maybe more elegant and complex, but when you learn to
use them I have found them much easier to work on. OS/2 in particular has an
object oriented desktop which is easily learned as long as you haven't be
contaminated by Microsoft. But for all that, Win95 is good enough for many
people. It will likely be the desire for more powerful software that pushes you
to other operating systems and perhaps hardware.
