report on Photo Works

Folks,

I received a roll of stereo print film (Fuji 200 HGII, Realist format)
back from Photo Works in Joliet IL. I'm pleased with the results.
Let me caution you that I'm still new to stereo photography and that this
is my first roll using my Kodak stereo camera (so the blurry prints are
my fault and not the lab's).

Photo Works prints on 3 by 5 paper with image size 3-1/8 x 3-1/8. The
image is off center (slightly left and below), but this is consistent.
There are some unpleasant edge effects (thin black strips or tiny slices
of adjacent photos) on the left and right, but this may be inherent in
the Realist format, since the images are so close on the film. The
sample photo I received from Grand View also had this problem.

The quality and color of the prints was reasonable, and the negatives were
returned uncut and rolled in the plastic film canister. The prints and
canister were returned in padded shipping envelope. I mailed the roll
on the 14th from Baltimore. They were developed that weekend, and I got
them back on the 23rd, so that's 7 working days total.

The charge for a roll of 24 exposures was $12.49, including shipping.
The stereo point-of-contact is Nancy. I've spoken to her twice, and she's
helpful.

Their address and phone number are

hope you all find this helpful. If you try them out, please
report to the list. I also have a roll being processed by Kodak/Dallas
and hope to report on that soon.
