The following got diverted off (I'm working on the archives right
now rather than the mailing list software).

|Walter O's first report on 3D Photomaster...
|
|Installation of Presto and EZPhoto was simple enough. The VGA driver
|provided did not install at all. The error message said it could not
|identify my VGA card (or monitor?). However, I was able to drive my
|existing VGA driver into the interlaced mode by setting the resolution
|higher than 800x600 while still keeping it in high color mode. I believe
|this may depend on the amount of VGA RAM your card has. So, after poking
|around without reading any help files or manual (because ha! there wasn't
|any!) I was able to view the sample pictures on the CD. Looked ok
|(noticeable flicker) although I don't have any experience with any other
|shutter glasses system to compare with. The sample pictures from the CD
|were interesting but violated the stereo window much more than I would
|expect from 3D professionals :)
|
|After clunking through the layer/inteleave/nudge-nudge/etc. process, I was
|able to create my own 3-d image. The result is not that good but I blame my
|source data for that. The only stereo pair that I had to work with was
|from a couple of single-use cameras taped together which were scanned in at
|low resolution and converted to jpeg with too much compression. If you're
|inclined to peek, its at http://idt.net/~osadcil9/3-d.html
|
|I've already placed an order for a scanner so I can start using some better
|stereo pairs to continue my evaluation. My own plan is to do a comparison
|to the *other* stereo product, 3D Photo Factory from SOFTreat. I will post
|results on my web page that show the resulting image using the same source
|stereo pairs along with how much time (including cropping, window
|adjustment, etc) it took to make each. Stay tuned for my second report...
