That is definiely true on their marketing. By the early to mid-80's I had
used/sampled many different computer systems plus those old word processing
machines (pseudo-computers :). I was extremely used to the CP/M operating
system and later MS-DOS. I remember when the first Mac appeared with a mouse it
was very strange as I am a very fast typist and was used to just typing in any
commands, etc. and working rapidly. The mouse seemed slow at first but as I got
used to it and the visual interface, I became a definite convert (de-programming
from the other systems as it were!). It was basically just a different way of
thinking (not necessarily easier) and suited visual people more than the other
systems at the time (plus it was easier on the eyes than those old black/green
combinations!). My guess is that Apple targeted users like me as well at that
time in addition to new computer users.

It will be interesting to see where computing goes in the next few years! I'd
like to think there is another Apple-type company waiting to be born out there
with an even better interface and software than either Macs or PC's at present
:)
