Digest 2387 -- View-Master Question

Michael Kersenbrock asked what else was going on at View-Master
considering what was published in Wednesday's "Oregonian".  I am happy
to report that business will "continue as normal" for this fine 3-d
product.

Reels will continue to be made in Portland (although they will be moving
the location of this process from the present plant in Beaverton to
another location -- yet unknown).  All of the film will continue to
be processed there as well.  

Viewers will be made in Mexico after the first of the year "Hecho en
Mexico.  They will still be the standard Model L until R&D comes up with
a new design.

General operations including the Creative Department at View-Master are
now officially part of Fisher-Price Toys and will be using their
facilties for all of these existing functions.  

Most important!!!  Personal reel blanks will continue to be made!!! 
This is a small part of their business but one that FP is willing to
continue on behalf of the collector consumer.  They very much hope to
expand the scenic and special markets line of VM products after the 
1st quarter of next year.  World markets and new international titles
are another of their planned projects.

Will keep you informed as I learn more.  If you have specific questions
let me know and I will try to find out from the powers that be.
