This is a GREAT idea Dalia! I do not want to monopolize your fine
publication, especially now with two interesting articles in the works
(viewer illumination and stereo slide montages) but I am interested in
authoring or co-authoring such article.
There is a lot to be said and discussed beyond the basics. I particularly
like the double-masking method that is possible with aluminum mounts and
lets you crop the top or bottom of a stereo pair in a professionally
looking way. As a matter of fact, this ties up with the stereo slide
montages article. Putting one slide over the other is very easy with
aluminum mounts and that's how I do it.
It should be noted that this is not a war between mounts. There are
certain (special) things that the aluminum mounts can do better than the
RBT mounts and the user of RBT mounts can use aluminum mounts in certain
instances and then put them in RBT mounts. As Jon Golden has pointed in
the past, once a slide has been cropped or sandwiched in Albion mounts, it
can still be placed in an RBT mount. The information on how is this done
can also be included in the article.
I am posting this in photo-3d to see if anybody else has ideas or want to
co-author this article.
