As the poster, here's my reasoning...
1) Many photo 3-D users use Kodak materials and processing. As I pointed
out over a year ago, the availability of these products and services are
at this point quite vulnerable and may in the not-too-distant
necessitate a change in the way some list members conduct their craft.
In just the past couple of years we've lost the last remaining Kodak 127
film and Kodachrome 120. Sampling, learning and changing to new
materials takes time (for some dedicated practicioners, years) and it's
my feeling that this information is useful in guiding the user to an
informed course of action and appropriate timetable.
2) A good deal of speculation has at times made it's way to the list
with regard to the kinds of marketing practices and business decisions
small and large companies face when introducing or running a product or
product line. IMO much or most of this information has been largely
erroneous and unfounded in the actual competitive and operational
realities of the marketplace. (A good example of this was Kodak's recent
decision to coupon some of its films, which some of this list celebrated
as a sign of forward movement but which in reality was an indication of
substantial problems with the product line...)
This information provides a bit of an on-going "case study" for those
who seem to be interested in these matters. I have asked in the past
whether folks find the information interesting, useful, irrelevant or an
annoyance and neither received accolates nor death-threats 8-) just
polite acceptance and a couple of words of actual encouragement.
By all means, tell me if you all wish me to stop before I do any further
damage... 8-)

BTW Bill, if you think these posts represent "extensive financial
horoscope(s)" then there is a place for you in senior management at
Eastman Kodak... 8888-)
