P3D Meeting was a blast!

Things are looking up for Brenda!!!! Tonights meeting was by far the
most enjoyable meeting I have attended! Guess what?! I got to run the
TDC projector!!!!!! For the first part of the meeting, I handled the
focusing part while another person did the horizontal, another did the
vertical, and another did the slide loading. Focusing was not much to
do. People were yelling for the horizontal and the vertical (90%
horizontal) adjustments to be made. After the first show (these were
slides taken by PSSP members) Mr. Duggin tried to explain the importance
of mounting properly and consistantly by standards set for stereo
photography. He threatened that in the future there would be no more
adjusting of the projector. Either mount properly by set standards or
suffer the consequences. A few members argued that you could not be
consistant because viewing situations vary. For example one person said
that if you mount to project in your living room the same slide would
not work for a larger room where the projector would be farther away.
Someone else said the size of the screen would make a difference.
Anyway, this got around to a few members saying we should have a
mounting class! :^)))))I had to pinch myself! Was I dreaming?! Was
this MY stereo club?!! I was thrilled! I asked if different mounts
could be demonstrated since I was interested in learning about Albions
and RBTs. I would actually like to see it done by someone who knows how
and since people seem to have slightly different tecniques, it would be
interesting to see. Bob Leonard said there is no difference between the
various slide mounts, the windows are all in the same place for
Realist. Windows are all in the same place for Nimslo, just smaller
windows. But the spacing is the same. I was a little confused by this
because I thought I have heard reference to windows being different in
relation to the stereo window, like close up, at the window, and
distance. What am I not understanding? Well, anyway, next club
meeting, we are having a slide mounting work shop and I cant wait! I
already have RBTs to try and plan to order some Albions before the next
meeting.

The second slide show, I got to load the slides in the TDC! Over 200
slides! This was a traveling slide show that is supposed to be making
the rounds at various stereo clubs. I saw lots of frogs, owls,
mailboxes, Indian carving, travel shots, a take off on some famous
paintings, and an amusing "history of stereo photography". I didnt jam
the projector at all! I even kept the slides in order. Mr. Roy told me
after the show I did a good job. :^))) This show ran very smoothly! No
one shouted for adjustments. Mr. Duggin said that that is how properly
mounted stereo slides show. No adjustments and everything keeps
moving. I think he made his point to those that would listen. He seems
to really know alot about projection.

After the show, I met John Roberts from P-3D who emailed me and told me
he would be at the meeting and show me his twin Minoltas on the bar he
made. I was amazed at how light it was. He made his own cable release
as well. A few other members gathered around and another interesting
discussion began. The learning didnt stop! John shared what he knew
since some of the members had never seen a twin rig in person (including
me) and were interested in how he did it. He uses twin Minoltas just
like you. After that, I asked him if he wanted to see a stereo slide
taken with twin Minoltas that would knock his socks off-and showed him
Dr. T's Shamu slide. The others saw it as well and all were impressed.
Dr. T- I just gotta have them Minoltas! :^))) As soon as you get time
of course. ;^)

With my next club meeting featuring slide mounting and upcoming
illustrated article in Dalia's Inside 3D magazine, I will be all set! I
am one happy camper in 3D land.

I would also like to express appreciation and thanks to all those on P3D
for readily sharing knowledge. It has really helped me as a newbie
since prior to tonight, my club was not doing much more than showing
slides. I have told many people at our club about P3D, its very
knowledgable members, and expect they will be hooking up soon.

Brenda
