Thanks Don. Interesting. I wonder if Shutterbug checked any of these
before printing their list.
Sunset Color Labs as we know is that mystery lab in CA with no telephone or
address, just a P.O. box and a less-than-good reputation. To date I have
received no response to the SASE I sent a month ago requesting information.
Photo Works only does stereo prints, as you note, not slides.
Kolor Print was doing stereo slides in 1987, but the business closed some
time back. The number Shutterbug gives is now someone's FAX number.
Pinkey's Photo occupies that location now, and they do stereo slides.
They're on the list I posted a while ago. Phone number for Pinkey's is
501-375-6409.
Starlight Color Lab and American Photo Group are possible non-entities.
I searched for a photo processor by name of Starlight in LA and came up
with nothing. The only photo processor I could find in that zip code
(90036, not 60036 b.t.w.) is SD Color Lab. The lady who answered there had
never heard of stereo slides. "We do *E-6* slide film," she said.
The phone number shown for American Photo Group "is not in service for
incoming calls" according to the recorded message I got when I tried
calling today. There are currently only two photo processors listed in
Springfield; neither is called American Photo Group. According to the lady
I spoke with at Springfield Custom Color, neither they nor their competitor
in Springfield do stereo.
If anyone on this list has used Starlight or American Photo Group(or any
other labs) for stereo work, please post a report with a current address.
Otherwise, it might be worth a couple of stamps to see if that P.O. box is
valid.
Following are the only labs I know of that handle Realist-format (current
as of November 1997):
SLIDES:
Wace Photo Imaging, NY NY; Pinkey's Photo Service, Little Rock AR; Rocky
Mountain Film, Aurora CO; Colorado Camera Co., Lakewood CO; Kodak Premium
Processing (Kodalux), Dallas TX; Sunset Color Lab, L.A. CA (May no longer
be in business).
PRECISION Slide Mounting:
Ron Labbe's Studio 3D, Maynard, MA
PRINTS:
PhotoFair, Hastings MN; Photo Works, Joliet IL; Grand Photo, St. Paul MN
See Digest 2376 for pricing, phone and addresses, etc.
