Sorry to throw experience in the face of speculation, but it won't
likely work. As the proud owner of an old Rollei 35, a few years ago I
bought another one, a better one with a better lens, but the same focal
length. My first pair of rolls were unviewable. The differences were not
negligible at all. I found a friend with a Rollei 35 who was willing to
trade his matching camera for my better, non-matching one and I put together
a working stereo rig.

Rollei 35s, by the way, are small enough that you can put them side by
side without much hyper effect except when shooting full face in the frame.
I built a folding frame on a strap hinge and shot horizontal or vertical at
the flip of the wrist. The only drawback is that an electronic coupling is
not possible and sync is good but not absolutely dependable for fast-moving
objects.
