Note that the issue was permanence of Kodachrome vs. B&W prints and not
"prints vs. slides".
>Question- Wasn't projection the original idea behind transparency film?

>changing that medium, I believe.
In stereo this is not true. Many people think that viewing stereo slides
in a good stereo viewer is the ultimate in stereo experience and stereo
projection is "short-changing".
>George also wrote " -------it does not make sense to suggest shooting

>desired" I wonder about the logic behind this statement.
How about "the world has color"?
I personally have done and enjoyed B&W photography, back when I had access
to a dark room. This is a nice form of photography, worth pursuing. If
you enjoy B&W prints then by all means do what you enjoy. What I don't
like is telling people to take B&W prints not because they enjoy them but
because of the fear that color prints or slides might not last for long. I
am saying that you said this... but this is what comes out when you talk
about fading 41 years old Kodachrome and crisp 150 year old B&W prints.
Permanence of our pictutres is one factor. Enjoyment is another. These
are two separate issues, IMO.

Perhaps they should try slides so *they* meet other members? :-) :-) :-)
(This is a joke - I do admire Bill for his diverse stereo interests and
involvement... maybe one day when I am as old as he is :-) - another joke -
or less busy with work and family, I will have the time to pursuit a
similar diversity)
>I really believe that we should all continue to shoot as much stereo as
>we can, educate as many non-stereo photographers as we can and enjoy
>ourselves in whatever medium that we choose..
I am in full agreement with this.
Have a nice weekend everyone! -- George Themelis
