As a contribution to the discussion about filters for Revere and Realist, I
will describe my own solution to the problem. It is easy to make, very
cheap - not the most elegant device you have seen, but it works!

For a filter holder, I take two black halves of RBT 23x28 plastic frames,
drill/grind/file a ~25 mm hole between the two apertures. It goes perfectly
on a Realist. To be used on a a Revere, one has to grind/file a little
more in the apertures, in order to fit the objectives. Two ~5x100 mm rubber
bands hold the device in place.

As colour filters I use Wratten gelatine filter; for polarizing filters I
use three mountings: 0, 45 and 90 degrees. Turning the 45 around, you have
a fourth filter of 135 degrees. Small labels in top of the mountings
indicate the angle: _, /, \, | . These four angles are normally enough. A
sheet of Plastic Slide Storage Pages from Reel 3-D Enterprises, cut
vertically in halves, is excellent for storage. Fold together and secure
with ... your rubber bands!

Eric
