(I hope I haven't exceeded the limit on subjects per posting!)
I have a set of Series V slip-on adapter rings made by Tiffin
for the TDC Colorist. These fit the Colorist I, but do not
fit the Colorist II, which has a slightly larger outside
diameter on the lens. Perhaps you have the right rings, but
the wrong camera!
Elmer's makes an epoxy putty that could be useful for making
a rewind crank adapter. It comes in two parts that you knead
together and form like putty. It worked wonderfully for
repairing a huge chip in a $15 red button viewer, which now
looks and works like new. At that time, I spray painted the
side of the viewer to make it all black again, but if I were
to do it again, I might try mixing lampblack with the epoxy.
There are movie film cleaners available, sold under names such
as "Filmrenew". Some of these contain a slight amount of
lubricant, which usually doesn't cause any problems. I think
Kodak Movie Film cleaner does not contain a lubricant, but it
may no longer be available. I find these work better and are
slightly less likely to soften the emulsion than isopropyl
alcohol. There aren't many film cleaners available any more,
since many of the older types contained chlorofluorocarbons.
If you want me to look up the addresses of dealers that sell
film cleaner, e-mail me directly.
