P3D Re: Public stereo slide presentations

Last week I was involved in two stereo slide presentations.
The first presentation was with a church group, arranged by our club
Treasurer, Ken Mondak. As expected, most people in the audience were old.
Very old. This, IMO, is a difficult situation because there will be many
in the audience who cannot see stereo properly. But they did seem to enjoy
the show and made a donation of $30 to our club.
For the second presentation, I was invited by a 2D photography club in our
area. I showed about 100 slides covering a wide variety of subjects,
techniques, etc. Some people seem to enjoy the show, others did not appear
to care much and there were one or two that looked a bit unhappy. That's
about what I had expected. It is still a mystery for me that not everybody
drops their 2D activities and beg to jump to the 3d wagon.... but I see it
as a fact of life.
I was pleased when a person approached me after the show and told me that
because of his "lazy eye" he cannot see stereo properly through a viewer
but projection worked well and was very happy about it.
Ken suggested that we only show 10-15 slides each (45 total) and let them
beg for more, instead of boring them. I think he has a good point. I am
used to show about 100-150 slides in 30 to 45 minutes. That might be too
much for people who not used to seeing stereo images. Showing just 30
instead of 100 might be better. And don't show them just your best. Show
some average ones and from time to time throw a great one. This will help
develop some appreciation of what is good and what is not. Of course,
don't show any pictures that are hard to view.
