P3D TDC Project-Or View Questions

As coincidence will have it, after the recent discussion concerning
Project-Or View, I found one in a local Goodwill Thrift shop (for 10
bucks!!).  I went through my saved P3D postings and found one by Dr T and
another by John Fairstein briefly discussing cleaning and quieting the
machine.  For these bits of information, I'm most thankful.  I noticed
however, that on my machine, there's an inordinate amount of play in the
focusing knob, which renders the focus rather innacurate and fairly
arbitrary.  Are there any tips on how to correct this?  Also, if anyone has
any detailed information on the cleaning and maintaining of the Project-Or
View, I'd be very much thankful.  Now that Dr. T has given the POV a second
thought and said that the machine can indeed be an acceptable device as per
brightness and contrast, I'm doubly excited to get this thing into
reasonable shape.  Any help will be highly appreciated.
