I've usually used ordinary "double stick" tape (widely available, at least
around here), around the edges of the print (with no overlaps) plus a small
piece in the middle of the print.

When I started doing that, some people warned that the adhesive would spread
or bleed through - I figured I could get new prints if that happened.
As far as I can tell, the prints I mounted in 1990 still look exactly the same
as they did when they were new. I would say there's a good chance that the
mounting will be good for at least 20 years, perhaps much longer.
