I think Boris has gone one step further than this. He will not record them
in the first place. I say that I find pleasure in taking good pictures
that have little depth. Boris seems to be saying that he will only shoot
close ups because pictures where the scene starts at 10 feet have little
depth and don't generate "wows".
I sense a conflict in Boris' desire to record ortho stereo pictures that
please himself and his desire to record stereo pictures that are appealing
to the novices. The perspective matching that he strives to achieve with
his 50 mm taking and viewing lenses is going down the hill when I view his
web site with crossed eyes from 20" away. I say, relax. Don't worry too
much about ortho.
I encourage Boris to try different lenses (especially longer lenses for his
portraits) and different stereo bases. Novices like hypo- and hyperstereos.
And I am sure Boris will like them too.

Funny you should mention Taj Mahal. I have obtained a few fine stereo
Realist viwater. The water is close and provides the sense of depth and
path that leads to Taj Mahal. The building in reflected in the water. It
is a fine stereo and I do get a sense of "being there" even though I have
not been there (yet).
