P3D Hefner and Realist

I was watching a show on the History Channel called "The Fifties" this
evening.  About 40 minutes into the one-hour program, they were doing a
segment on Hugh Hefner and the sensation that Playboy Magazine caused.  

Among the many photos shown was one of Hefner and an unknown (to me)
photographer standing behind a tripod-mounted Realist in some studio.  Who
were they shooting and where did the slides end up, I wonder?
