What's your intended display mode?

A computer screen only needs 72 dpi and about 1.8 gamma. Enlarging
slides or negatives to display/gallery print sizes requires more
resolution and higher gamma. The best of these devices will get you
resolution and contrast ranges approaching (but not equaling) what's on
a negative... it all depends where you need to end up.
