P3D Pin-Hole Viewers
Message text written by INTERNET:photo-3d@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
>Deflecting the subject, I saw someone at the Atlanta NSA pushing viewers
that were basically cardboard glasses with pinholes at the eyes - the (2D)
pictures demonstrated were of bright colored foreground objects (hot air
balloons) which naturally advance against a pale blue recessive
background...much earlier, I'd always thought 2D slide projections looked
'deep' for much the same reasons. What I'm getting at, I guess, is the
mind may 'want' to see things in depth, and there are folks ready to sell
to that part of the mind.<
Actually, I think those pin-hole viewers use somewhat the same principle
employed by ChromaDepth glasses -- by off-setting your view of the image
slightly, and differently for each eye, they somehow manage to alter your
perception of the colors and cause the red end of the spectrum to appear to
be "in front of" the blue end. Of course an abiding desire to see depth
doesn't hurt the illusion, either.
