Sorry to inform you, fellow Zeiss & Schneider believers, that there exist
7-element Planars too.
Rolleiflex used 5-element for their 2.8 TLR cameras and both 5 and 6
element versions in their 3.5 TLRs. The 7 element version is used in their
current medium format SLRs as well as in Hasselblads (the Swedish camera).
The SLRs need some extra space for mirror movements, so the 7-element
version is in fact a retrofocus construction. All above (Hasselblad not
included) applies to Schneider Xenotars too.
OK, it's a mess, but they are all good lenses.
My first stereo shot was made with Planar 2.8. Sharpness is sufficient.
