P3D Converting Slides to Cards

>From George Themelis in #2457:

"It is either that or they found an easy way to get stars and awards
with a minimum amount of effort and slim competition.

Sorry to say that but I noticed that many entrants are making print
copies of their award-winning slides and are sending them in print
competitions to get more acceptances."

This has been bothering me also, and I contacted the Coveys of PSA Stereo
Division standards concerning it. I judged at Oakland last year, and I was
appalled at how many persons were making print copies (sometimes not of
great quality) of their best slides as mentioned by George. Some kind of
ethical considerations are involved here, but the rules at present don't
address the problem. I'm not sure that the Coveys are the ones who can make
the changes, but I have also been in touch with the SD Chairman by sending
him copies of my opinions. It probably really goes back to the rules of the
individual exhibitions. I am now involved with card making myself, but each
is new and made with a negative film in a Realist camera, then mounted in
Q-VU mounts. (some purists may even take exception to this "easy way out").

Although I've been a member of this group for a long time, this will be my
first real participation, and I expect to continue. Ignore the name above---
that's my wife's e-mail address, used before I had my own (RLF@xxxxxxxxxxx).
I'm Ron, and I'll soon make the address change. I'm really a computer
illiterate, and making such changes intimidates me; however, I copied #2242
so that I can do more in that regard.
