Boy, you guys are GREAT !!!

Thanks for all the suggestions on sending a stereo camera aloft. Just to
give you something to laugh at, I put my proposed camera up on the net. It's at:

The drawing is crude, and there's lots not included, but the idea is very
simple: two cardboard boxes big enough to hold two pieces of 120 film taped
to the inside back, and two meniscus lenses (box camera type) in the front.
The cardboard shutters are in front, just sliding bars with a hole. They are
joined by an elastic band between them. On the opposite ends, two pieces of
string are wrapped around the outsides and backs of the camera to be joined
by a loop of scotch tape. I think the length of time it would take to loop
of tape to become unstuck and fire the shutters would be enough time to get
it aloft.

Yes, it's extremely simple, cheap, and prone to lots of errors. But that's
what experimenting is all about!
