P3D Re: Flash Synch

David & Boris (and anyone else interested in flash synch): Some time ago, the
PSA Journal actually published plans to make an electronic "black box" for
adjusting flash synch between two cameras for stereo photography, using about
$15 worth of parts from Radio Shack. I set about soldering one together, but
in the interim, dumb luck struck. Instead, I spliced two remote electronic
cable releases to a single button, plugged them into my Canon Rebel X twin
rig, and voila! It works, most of the time, at least. When it doesn't, I
attribute the problem to the fact that the cameras are trying to focus and/or
expose for slightly different views. But it really does work, about 80 to 90
percent of the time. If you are patient, wait for APEC exchange Number 5
(early next year), wherein will be a flash-lit indoor scene, perfectly
synched, using my Rebel rig and a Vivitar 285 flash. If you are interested in
the cite to the PSA article, let me know and I'll dig it up. Jim Norman.
